PEERS for Preschoolers - Online Educational Classes for Parents

  • PEERS® for Preschoolers is an evidence-based program to teach children between 4 to 6 years of age how to make and keep friends.

  • Parents attend 16 weekly virtual group sessions for 90 minutes per week.

  • This program is effective for neurotypical and neurodivergent children alike, including autistic children and ADHDers.

  • Parents learn how to coach their child on targeted social skills related to friendship development through lessons, role-play videos, and puppet shows for children.

  • Parents are provided resources to practice these skills during weekly homework assignments, and are given feedback on their social coaching.

  • Parents will learn how to provide coaching on: Having successful play dates, Listening and following directions, Meeting and greeting friends, Sharing and giving turns, Asking friends to play, Joining ongoing play, Keeping cool during play, Being a good sport, Transitioning to new play activities, Asking and giving help, Using volume control, Maintaining body boundaries.

  • Bonus content includes guidance on how to talk about diagnoses.

Individual PEERS for Preschoolers Parent Coaching

    • Once weekly online via Zoom (flexible scheduling)

    • 90-minute meeting with the social coach and NCBC’s expert provider

    • 14-16+ weeks (depending on topics covered)

    • Personal session format offers all the same content one on one instead of in a group of other parents

    • Session pace is personalized and allows for more support and guidance from the PEERS Certified Trainer

    • Ongoing, Open Enrollment (Can start anytime!)

  • The program costs $190 per week, which covers the 90 minute virtual individual session and all resources and materials for one social coach.

    • Families who might require a different cost for financial stability contact us for an amended rate.

    • Parents who are available for all the scheduled group sessions (with limited exceptions)

    • Parents who benefit from learning through examples with families in similar positions

    • Parents who are able to practice outside of sessions (do homework)

  • The PEERS program is not a friendship matching service. Instead, individuals learn the skills to find sources of friends, make, and keep friendships going. Social coaches help facilitate the process of locating sources of friends.
